What is a Ghost

Well calling anything a ghost when there is no real evidence that a ghost exists is somewhat of a problem, let me explain. Let us say you gathered enough data that point to an unexplained anomaly and that very knowledgeable people agreed, but still have no explanation. There is no explanation because there is not enough data. You need to discover the source of the anomaly. Therefore, you need even more data to explain how the anomaly occurred. If we can explain what caused the anomaly, is that a ghost? No!

Even if there was data that showed a connection between the source and the anomaly, what produces the source? Not only do you have to show the research of why the source exists in the first place, but also you would now have to link the anomaly to a once living human being. That in and of itself would require a mountain of data gathered in the strictest of conditions. All methods and procedures in how the data was collected would have to stand up to an onslaught of scrutiny and skeptical review.

Then Medical Science through years of clinical studies must present conclusive evidence that human consciousness can survive death, and must include surviving longer than clinical testing allows. There are ongoing studies researching awareness during clinical death. These studies will investigate reports from patients that claim to have left their body. There must be irrefutable evidence that human consciousness can leave its physical host, and survive indefinitely, and that is according to historical descriptions defining the human spirit by any other name.

How would human consciousness survive without a physical host, as far as Medical Science is concerned there are currently no other means. There has to be data explaining all the intricacies between the source and the anomaly from creation to manifestation. The source would need to be more complex than anyone could ever have thought, because if it were not it would be known as a fact of human existence. There are studies to define human consciousness that are inconclusive.

Then of course taking a leap forward, the source and anomaly somehow stored the consciousness, but we would have to explain how it could interact with us. All without a physical host. You have to address other theories from parallel universes, particle entanglement or some type of quantum involvement; all would have to be included, or disproved.

Then after all this can we call it a ghost? No!

You must understand extraordinary claims, such as an afterlife. Requires an extraordinary amount of evidence and that is evidence we currently do not have.
